Malcolm Gladwell
I got a chance to hear Malcolm Gladwell at NECC 2009 last night and he's a breath of fresh air. I took a chance to read part of his book "Outliers," before listening to him last night, but I'm not sure that was necessary. Gladwell defines success as a lot of hard work and includes a great deal of failure in the definition of what is commonly called success. That relates well to open source software and those of us who use and recommend it too because when you're swimming against the current the going gets tough at times. It's great to see that Steve Hargaddon is here at NECC and presenting on K12LTSP. We are still using Ubuntu LTSP which is based on the success of K12LTSP which we used at Franklinville for four years.
This is the first chance I got to write as my hotel doesn't seem to like my Ubuntu 8.04 Dell Mini 12. It's free Wi-Fi at the Holiday Inn Central Washington but no dice on connecting. Here at the Walter Washington Convention and NECC 2009 I'm connecting easily. Glad I packed the Mini 12 in by bag today. I'm looking forward to a full day today and hope to learn about how teachers are using cell phones with students. More later...
